Mila Kunis Stands Up for Justin Timberlake in Fluent Russian During the Press Conference in Moscow

Posted on August 3rd, 2011

Mila Kunis, who is originally from the Ukraine, and speaks fluent Russian stood up for Justin Timberlake during the press conference of the movie “Friends with Benefits” (“Секс по Дружбе”) in Moscow. A reporter asked Justin why he chooses to play in movies these days. Surprised by the question, Mila Kunis defended Justine and replied to the reporter “why not”?

The gist of their conversation:

Reporter: Justin, I have a question for you about the movies and sex.
Mila Kunis: What?
Reporter: about movies and sex.
Mila Kunis: I just wanted for you to say that.
Justin Timberlake: I don’t like this!
Reporter: What did you find in movies? Why do you need to play in movies?
Mila Kunis: What?
Reporter: Why movies?
Mila Kunis: Why?
Reporter: Many representatives of the show business choose to play in movies, and they derive no benefit from it. Why does Justine need to play in movies?
Mila Kunis: Why does he need to play in movies?
Reporter: Yes.
Mila Kunis: What would you like for him to do?..  If he wants to play in movies and he is good at it, why not? What kind of question is that? Why are YOU here?

This is my favourite part of the conversation:

Mila Kunis: Зачем ему нужно делать кино?
Reporter: Да.
Mila Kunis: А что вы хотите, чтобы он делал?… Если он хочет делать, и он может, почему нет? Какой это вопрос? А почему вы здесь?

Hilarious! Exactly, why not?

The whole conversation is very funny, and you can hear the crowd laughing on the background. Amused Justin, who followed the translation of the conversation with a delay, called Mila “his bodyguard”. Beware reporters! :-))
